Continuing on from our terminology guide series earlier this year, our last installment is for stick packs! Ideal for single-use packaging, stick packs are extremely popular for travel-friendly products, products that require extended shelf-life and freshness, and packaging dosages in the pharmaceutical or nutraceutical industry.

Here's our list of essential terms for stick packs:

  • Easy Tear: Provides easy-to-tear function, which controls the size of the package opening. When using Easy Tear material, sometimes a tear notch is not needed.
  • Multi-lane: Stick packs printed side-by-side in order to convert to multi-lane packaging machines.
  • Tear Notch: Small slit in the end seal that allows consumers to easily tear the film in order to gain access to the product.
  • Vertical Form Fill: Packaging designed for vertical form fill seal packaging machines. Typically incorporates longitudinal fin seals at the back of the product with two further seals at the ends of the package.
  • Web Direction: Direction the material is flowing through on the machine.
