Bar Wrappers: What You Should Know

Bar wrappers are a popular packaging product in the snack and confectionery markets, with products like chocolate bars and protein bars. Not only do they offer an opportunity for 360-degree branding, but they can also keep your product intact with high barrier properties. So, when creating bar wrappers, where should you begin?

Here are a few questions to use as starting points when creating a new bar wrapper:

What product will you be packaging?

It's essential to know the product you’re looking to package for many reasons:

  • Machine Application & Temperature-Sensitivity: At Associated, we’re well versed in both Cold Seal and Heat Seal packaging. Depending on the machine, we can design a film that works for cold seal or heat seal applications. If your product is heat-sensitive, we can opt for Cold Seal bar wrapper packaging so that your product will remain intact in the packaging process.
  • Barrier Protection: Depending on the material selected, bar wrappers can offer great barrier protection with UV inhibitors and high oxygen and moisture barriers to extend the product’s shelf life. Barrier properties can be adjusted to suit the product being packaged, so it’s important to share this information at the beginning of the packaging process.

How advanced is your design?

If you have an intricate design or your bar wrappers will be used for products with many scents or variations, it might be better suited to be printed digitally. At Associated, we can print both digitally and with flexographic printing; you can find out more here.
