Next up for our staff spotlight series is Adela Patriche! Adela is a Sales Assistant at Associated Labels and is a valued member of our team:

1) How long have you worked at Associated?

I've worked here for eight years and one month!

2) Describe your journey at Associated so far.

I started in customer service. I worked there for three months and then slowly trained to begin as a Sales Assistant. It’s been an eye-opening journey; I have learned so much about packaging and myself. I’ve learned how to communicate with people better, and I feel like I have better life skills because of this job.

3) How would you describe the work environment?

Everyone is like my family. I’ve made friends and connections here, and I don’t feel like I’m coming to work every day; I feel like I’m coming to see my family!

4) What is your favourite thing about working here?

The people that I work with, the challenges I learn to overcome, the achievements I’ve made over the years, and how I’ve grown as a person.

5) What are you most proud of since working here?

All of the things I’ve learned over the years about equipment, packaging, sustainable packaging and the environment, the food industry, the wine industry – the list is endless. I feel like I learned a lot about things we don’t necessarily pay attention to when we go grocery shopping. I think I’m definitely knowledgeable now, and this experience has opened my eyes to the packaging industry and also to what we put into our bodies.

6) What is the biggest challenge you've had since working here?

Learning how to deal with different personalities and adapting yourself to accommodate them in order to work, communicate, and get along with everyone.

7) Do you have a particular moment or memory at Associated that stands out for you?

I've always loved our Christmas parties. We’re never all together, so it’s the one opportunity a year to have everyone in the same room and see everyone happy and relaxed!

8) What does a typical day look like for you, and what are you currently working on?

I turn on my computer, and I go over all of my emails to see what's urgent. I send things to customer service, do my quoting, and reply to customers.

We've been working on a lot of shrink and pouch die lines for customers recently!

9) How does Associated support professional development?

It is constant learning - every day is something new! There is a lot of support from supervisors and tons of learning opportunities here.
